What is Veterinary Chiropractic Care? Veterinary chiropractic care or spinal manipulation therapy is using manual therapy (the hands) to manipulate the joints of the spinal column (the adjustment) to assist the body to be able to healitself.
What do chiropractors do?
Veterinary chiropractors diagnose and treat subluxations (decreased range of motion) of jointsof the spinal vertebrae and limbs. Subluxation treatment is an adjustment to restore motion to joints, thereby, improving the health of the joint and all the structures in and around the joint.
What is an adjustment?
An adjustment is what treats the subluxation or decreased motionof a specific joint. A chiropractor does not “put bones back in place,” but moves the joint through its normal range of motion. The adjustment is a high velocity, low amplitude thrust in the proper line of correction into the angle of the joint.
What are the benefits?
There are many benefits to chiropractic adjustment including reducing pain, restoring joint mobility and decreasing muscle tension. All are accomplished by stimulating the nervous system. When the mobility of joints are regularly maintained through chiropractic adjustments, injuries can be avoided, athletic performance potential can be reached and pain can be reduced.
